The Miami Design District
The Miami Design District is a unique hub where retail meets expansive outdoor art exhibits, all supported by an abundance of green infrastructure. The Miami Design District is an 18-square-block commercial area intended at inception as a multi-level urban park, with rooftop gardens, large canopy trees lining the streets and promenades, and landscaped destination areas.
Treesources for six years managed and created a comprehensive arboriculture program and an intensive stewardship program for the Design District and its clients. We specialized in creating solutions for existing trees, green roofs, and tropical habitats due to urban stressors. We worked with high profile clients for green art installations, plant design, maintenance, and care for special events such as Art Basel, Interactive Pop Ups, and Fashion Week. As part of the Design District’s needs, our stewardship program took care of daily streetscaping, tree relocations, irrigation needs, rehabbing of sick and stressed plants, installations of gardens and plantings. We also collaborated with Fairchild Botanical Gardens to include the Million Orchid Project within the District.
